Nustay was founded in September 2014 after our CEO & Founder had a terrible experience after booking a hotel.
A few years ago, I went on a holiday to Thailand. From my computer back home in Denmark, I had booked a fantastic-looking hotel right by the beach, thinking this would be a great vacation. However, upon arriving at the hotel, I quickly found out that this hotel did not meet my expectations. I kept thinking that if I had known more about this hotel, I would have booked another hotel from the start. Being an entrepreneur, it dawned on me – what if there was a hotel booking site where you not only could book hotels based on price and location – but also after your personal preferences?

A seasoned e-commerce entrepreneur with five startups to his name, Mathias Lundoe Nielsen is on a mission to conquer a USD 500 bn market with Nustay.com.
As of today, he has successfully raised more than USD 6 m in seed capital for Nustay from a VC firm and angel investors, building the organization to cover 60+ full time employees in Copenhagen and Kiev, with plans of ambitious global expansion.
Academically, Mathias Lundoe Nielsen holds a CBL with Henley Business School and is a keynote speaker on the use of big data in the travel market with TEDx and numerous others thought leader events.
We have a unique position as a new player in the hotel OTA market with a radically different approach that puts the customers’ personal preferences and low prices first. With this approach, we believe that we can attract a large number of customers and take a sizable part of the market for online hotel bookings in the future.

Michael is responsible for all technological decisions on Nustay’s platform. Ensuring that all requirements and vision from stakeholders are matched with outstanding technical development and all technical teams operate at the highest level. He also ensures that our systems architecture and architectural process are resilient, agile, and ready to meet all fast growth business challenges.
With over 12 years’ experience at the highest levels of complex software architecture and systems engineering, Michael is one of Europe’s leading talents in high load complex systems, programming languages, platforms and development processes.
With refined skills in systems architecture, C#, Golang and Python development. Michael believes the human factor is one of the most important aspects in software engineering and constantly works to evolve and form agile project management and development processes, to lead highly motivated teams to their best performance.

Kasper Engelheim HoveCMO

Kasper is responsible for all marketing channels at Nustay and for building a world class product that our users love.
One of the best Display Advertising and Search Engine Marketing professionals in Europe. Kasper has worked for top-tier companies such as Google, Momondo and KAYAK.
Starting his digital career in 2010 as Lead Account Strategist for Google. Kasper later joined Momondo as one of its very first employees and the only one responsible for digital marketing. By the time of leaving Momondo he had hired more than 100 people for digital marketing and was responsible for a yearly budget of more than 200 million USD.

Simon Lajlev LarsenCFO

Simon is responsible for finance, legal and compliance in Nustay’s full organization, with the key mission to ensure that we both internally and externally share a timely, transparent and relevant view of our performance, areas for optimization and future expectations. Combined with proper “housekeeping”, such as: being in compliance with all regulations, effective cash management and funding.
Simon holds a Master’s in finance, combined with close to 15 years in consulting and audit from Ernst & Young.
In 2009 he joined the Jewellery Company Pandora as VP in Finance and was a key part of the team that listed Pandora in 2010 with a market cap around 5 billion USD. After the IPO he worked as regional CFO for the Asian region. Seeking new challenges, Simon then worked as CEO in a fashion company, COO in a cosmetics start-up and most recently before joining Nustay, heading all European FP&A activities in a US listed industrial company (a +USD 1 bn business).
What I really like about Nustay is the scalability in the business model. We have instant access to the global hotel industry, with a market size above 500 billion USD, and with our global marketing channels such as google, kayak and others we will get a prompt return on our marketing investment, enabling us to finance further growth.

Doug holds the responsibility for building and managing Nustay’s global hotel partnerships. It has been Doug’s core mission to ensure Nustay has the best prices on the market and full direct booking ability at every hotel, in all corners of the world.
Joining Nustay early in the company’s conception, Doug has over the past three years, systematically and strategically partnered with the top hotel suppliers around the world.
Before joining Nustay, Doug won the branding and license rights for TED in Denmark, a global non-profit thought leading organization and went on to found TEDxKEA, which he ran as Managing Director for 3 years.
From the very beginning I have been intoxicated by the ambition of Nustay. Undaunted by the competition, Nustay is carving out our market share with a better product, better prices and better service.
