Business Concept

Nustay is a Danish start-up company within the hotel booking market that offers its customers a new hybrid concept, combining the best aspects of existing online booking systems. The Company is an Online Travel Agency that delivers personalised hotel deals for each registered user depending on the preferences of the user and the type of stay. Nustay has a vision of becoming the best and most disruptively innovative hotel booking platform in the world. The Company’s innovative and advanced hotel booking platform has been under development since 2014 and is today online, active and has proven its ability to handle customers all over the globe.

Nustay was founded in September 2014 after our CEO & Founder had a terrible experience after booking a hotel.

A few years ago, I went on a holiday to Thailand. From my computer back home in Denmark, I had booked a fantastic-looking hotel right by the beach, thinking this would be a great vacation. However, upon arriving at the hotel, I quickly found out that this hotel did not meet my expectations. I kept thinking that if I had known more about this hotel, I would have booked another hotel from the start. Being an entrepreneur, it dawned on me – what if there was a hotel booking site where you not only could book hotels based on price and location – but also after your personal preferences?

    Board Member

    • Previous positions: Partner at DELACOUR Limited Partnership Law Company, Honorary Consul for The Republic of Iceland in Denmark.

    Carl Erik is mainly engaged in serving on company boards and dealing with business transfers/M&A. The combination of his law and finance degrees makes him a preferred advisor to executive boards and boards of directors, and he has vast experience in preparing strategies as well as in management at both operational and tactical levels.

    Christian Stroejer is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Strøjer Tegl A/S, Strøjer Ler A/S, Strøjer Samlingen A/S, Strøjer Holding ApS, Karen & Jørgen Strøjer Holding ApS and Strøjer Tegl Systems A/S.

    In addition to this, Christian Strøjer is the CEO and member of the board of directors in Strøjer Capital ApS as well as member of the board of directors in Autooffer ApS, Strøjer Cars ApS and Strøjer Ejendomme A/S.

    Academically, Mathias Lundoe Nielsen holds a CBL with Henley Business School and is a keynote speaker on the use of big data in the travel market with TEDx and numerous others thought leader events.

    We have a unique position as a new player in the hotel OTA market with a radically different approach that puts the customers’ personal preferences and low prices first. With this approach, we believe that we can attract a large number of customers and take a sizable part of the market for online hotel bookings in the future.
  • Michael Barabash

    Michael is responsible for all technological decisions on Nustay’s platform. Ensuring that all requirements and vision from stakeholders are matched with outstanding technical development and all technical teams operate at the highest level. He also ensures that our systems architecture and architectural process are resilient, agile, and ready to meet all fast growth business challenges.

    With over 12 years’ experience at the highest levels of complex software architecture and systems engineering, Michael is one of Europe’s leading talents in high load complex systems, programming languages, platforms and development processes.

    With refined skills in systems architecture, C#, Golang and Python development. Michael believes the human factor is one of the most important aspects in software engineering and constantly works to evolve and form agile project management and development processes, to lead highly motivated teams to their best performance.

    Nustay is a bright example of a tight and effective partnership between business, development and operations. I'm excited to be involved in such global high-load product, which has a mission to deliver the best prices for customers all over the world.
  • Søren Morbitzer Christoffersen

    • Other positions: Board member in various shipping- and transportation companies, Executive advisor, Co-coordinator of first TEDx Frederiksberg, and Mentor at DTU Hardtech Entrepreneurship

    With an educational background as M.Sc. in Economics & Business Administration and State-Authorised Public Accountant, Søren has for more than 30 years worked with all aspects of Financial Management and Leadership – and in a range of industries, from banking, telecommunication, consulting, e-commerce, to shipping during 15 years with A.P.Møller Maersk companies.

    Søren, being responsible for management and all finance, legal and compliance aspects within Nustay, is driven by working in a professional and passionate environment. He has during most of his career worked with change management in growth companies, amongst other things being instrumental in Svitzer’s profitable growth from a 60 MUSD local operator to an 800MUSD global business operating in more than 35 countries.

    Søren is an experienced people manager and has in his previous positions build and developed highly skilled and efficient organisations - people, processes and systems.

    I think Nustay has developed a unique business model, with huge benefits for the customer. At the same time the intelligence behind the model forms a fantastic base for Nustay to capture a substantial part of the market and even be able to fund most of the future growth internally - I have no doubt this will happen ! As a newcomer to the company, I also have to say that I enjoy tremendously working with such passionate, ambitious and skilful colleges.
  • Stein-Thore Mortensen

    VP Performance Marketing

    In his role as Vice President of Performance Marketing, Stein is responsible for driving profitability across all marketing channels, in addition to which he holds responsibility over Nustay’s new app (to be launched in 2020. To meet these objectives, Stein ensures to strike a good balance between user experience and monetization which means maintaining close cooperation between the marketing team and Nustay’s product, sales and development teams.

    In his previous role as Nustay’s Head of Paid Media, Stein has led an array of challenging projects, such as, driving the expansion of markets on Google Hotel Ads, launching and expanding Tripadvisor presence globally, custom building internal reporting, extensive project managing of the product, and, contracting new and existing meta-channels for further expansion.

    Stein’s professional background is within online marketing, specifically performance driven marketing. After a digital career spanning over a decade that begun at Google, he has worked with SEM, SMM, Branding and App marketing both as a strategist and hands-on campaign management for some the biggest brands in the online travel industry.

    Working for a start-up which is disrupting the status quo in the online travel business, has by far been the most challenging and exciting step of my digital career to date. To be able to shape the future of Nustay’s marketing and build the whole foundation which the company will use to capture profitable market shares over the next decade is both humbling and amazing.
  • Anna Carlquist

    VP Product
    • Previous position: Head of CRM at Nustay

    As Vice President for Product, Anna is responsible for realising Nustay’s strategic goals on all customer-facing products. This sees Anna steering and managing departmental work streams and priorities to ensure management’s objectives are successfully met.

    Since starting at Nustay, Anna has worked on several notable projects, including, opening up new marketing channels, launching Facebook and email strategies, project managing the development of Nustay’s Blog, Contact Us and FAQ pages, and, leading the implementation of Nustay’s CRM system Salesforce.

    Anna’s professional experience, prior to assuming her role as VPP, spans right across the marketing spectrum; having worked with SEM and SMM, Branding and SEO, and most recently CRM - all of which have been within online industry. This experience has given Anna a detailed view of customer’s needs and expectations, and as such proven invaluable in managing the product.

    As a young company you’re in effect working with a blank canvas, which is at the same time daunting and exciting. For me it means making sure that performance KPIs are established and met successfully as well as ensuring that a data driven approach to decision-making is applied across the board.
